What is Special About Our School?

Rainier View Elementary is a learning community dedicated to continuous growth in student achievement. Parents and staff effectively work together to make quality decisions. These partnerships are most evident in Rainier View’s School Leadership Team, the PTA, and participation in school activities.

Teachers loop with their classes to stay with the same students for two-year assignments. Students with special learning needs are served in a variety of ways, including a special education developmental preschool, Integrated Kindergarten, Resource Room support, Learning Assistance Program and GATE Program.

Rainier View emphasizes citizenship, technology, and community involvement. A student art gallery, created ten years ago, greets visitors at the front door. Each spring students submit artwork for the gallery, and a panel of judges selects one primary and one intermediate piece become part of a permanent displays.

Consistently responsible, respectful, and cooperative students are rewarded the FLYER badge and are honored at monthly citizenship assemblies.

Our learning community provides a positive environment that motivates and supports students and families. Working as a team with parents, the Rainier View staff makes a difference in children’s lives.

No Child Left Behind Report Card

The No Child Left Behind Act requires all schools and school districts in the United States to prepare annual reports for parents and the public detailing their academic achievement. The State Superintendent of Public Instruction’s web site makes this information available on-line. Find your school’s report card on-line at http://reportcard.ospi.k12.wa.us/, Click on Federal Way in the “Summary” box, then choose your school from the list. You may also request a paper copy of the report card at your school’s office. For more information about the NCLB Act, go to http://www.nclb.gov/index.html.
