What is Special About Our School?
Meredith Hill prepares students to be responsible members of society. Its students are engaged in rigorous, meaningful study to develop basic skills, knowledge, creativity, and commitment to democratic ideals.
Students at Meredith Hill are actively involved in both their own learning and the everyday operations of the school. In addition to the standard curriculum, students participate in projects that extend and enrich their learning. They take responsibility for operating the school’s recycling program and maintaining the school grounds. The staff meets regularly to coordinate curriculum, plan projects, and share resources. Meredith Hill’s PTA actively supports all aspects of the school and student learning.
During the 2005-06 school year, Meredith Hill focused on meeting state goals by improving students’ reading and math performance and continuing to emphasize reading improvement for all. The school continues to focus on mathematics, writing, and reading.
In addition, Meredith Hill values other areas of enrichment such as the PTA-sponsored Read & Lead Program, Art Docent Program and participation in the annual “Reflections” contest. The PTA provides volunteers and supports field trips, the library, Physical Education, reading, and music programs. No Child Left Behind Report Card
The No Child Left Behind Act requires all schools and school districts in the United States to prepare annual reports for parents and the public detailing their academic achievement. The State Superintendent of Public Instruction’s web site makes this information available on-line. Find your school’s report card on-line at http://reportcard.ospi.k12.wa.us/ Click on Federal Way in the “Summary” box, then choose your school from the list. You may also request a paper copy of the report card at your school’s office. For more information about the NCLB Act, go to http://www.nclb.gov/index.html.
