Public Invited to Attend Position Five Board Member Interviews

The applicants for the position of director, District 5, Tony Moore and Ron Walker, will be interviewed in an open meeting of the Federal Way Public Schools Board of Directors on April 30. The interviews will be held in the Educational Service Center Board Room, 31405 18th Ave. S., Federal Way at 7 p.m., April 30th. The new board member will be sworn in on May 13.

About the applicants:

Tony Moore is a business consultant who has lived in Federal Way for 17 years. Tony has volunteered with the Boy’s and Girl’s Club as a basketball coach, has started a community church, and serves on the City’s Planning Commission. He is a founding mentor with the district’s Heritage Leadership camp and a member of the Citizens for Federal Way Public Schools. His wife, Trise, is the district’s Family Partnership Advocate and his children attend high school in the district.

Ron Walker is a medical radiographer and a 22-year resident of Federal Way. He has been a member of the City of Federal Way’s Diversity Commission since 1999 and served as chairperson of the city’s Martin Luther King Celebration Committee since the same year.  He is also a mentor with the district’s Heritage Leadership Camp and a founding member of Federal Way’s Multi-Cultural Investors for Education. He was selected Federal Way’s Volunteer of the Year in 2001.

Dave Larson, who served in the District 5 school board position, resigned February 29, 2008, to accept an appointment to the Federal Way Municipal Court.
