Spring 2008 WASL Testing and Graduation Information

WASL testing for high school students continues April 15-18, when they take the Math and Science portions of the state test. (The spring Reading and Writing testing took place March 10-13.)  The next round of high school WASL testing will be next August.

Students in grades 3-8 will take the WASL between April 14 and May 1.  Parents are strongly encouraged to check with their schools for specific dates before scheduling doctor appointments or other activities that take their children out of school during this 2-1/2 week period.

The Office of the Superintendent of Instruction (OSPI) website provides a Class of 2008 Graduation Toolkit, along with eight new or updated handouts, to help parents and students understand state testing and requirements for graduating in 2008.

Don’t miss the frequently-asked questions section for more information about changes to the mathematics WASL graduation requirement.

The website also includes information on:

  • Options for students not graduating after four years of high school
  • Overview of certificate of academic achievement options
  • Parent/guardian access to their child’s WASL test booklets and how/when to file a score appeal
  • How students in special education participate in state testing
  • Letter for families of ninth-graders about spring 2008 high school WASL testing
