Curriculum Development - 2020

The Board of Directors of the Federal Way School District is responsible to:

•adopt grade level expectations

•adopt policies that establish requirements for student promotion and high school graduation

•adopt a menu of instructional materials to be used to enable students to meet expected student learnings

Building principals are responsible for developing and implementing a school-wide program which is consistent with grade-level expectations and other adopted board policies.

Teachers and principals are responsible for developing and implementing a classroom program that meets grade span expectations. Each class course shall have a syllabus that:

•identifies the instructional materials to be used

•explains procedures for assessing student achievement and promotion

•outlines class/course expectations

The superintendent/designee shall establish procedures for curriculum development which provide for community and staff involvement, review of selected areas on a cyclical basis, and any changes suggested by a curriculum study.
