Become More
Informed, Prepared and Involved

Especially for Schools Especially for Families

The Family/Community Partnerships Office will:

  • Provide research-based information to distribute in support of staff and families for newsletters, connect-ed messages, staff trainings
  • Facilitate “brown bag” discussions to help staff brainstorm meaningful ways to integrate family engagement strategies on the school level
  • Provide “What Every Teacher Wants to Know” sessions to give teachers the opportunity to ask questions and collaborate with each other on how to effectively link family engagement to learning
  • Provide community partners, leaders and speakers for school events
  • Provide facilitation/meeting support and training for effectively resolving complex family/school conversations
  • Develop customized workshop, trainings and partnerships as requested by school staff.

    Example: “The Advocacy Process” workshop

  • Connect staff to local, regional and state level resources designed to strengthen and expand effective partnership efforts for student success.

Examples: Governor’s Education Ombudsman Office, Center for the Improvement of Student Learning Puget Sound Educational Service District

  • Coordinate and or support training and district-level collaboration opportunities for School Leadership team members

The Family/Community Partnerships Office will:

  • Distribute research-based information via mail, one-to-one appointments, personal calls, newsletters, school and community meetings
  • Coordinate and facilitate informal Question and Answer sessions (‘What Every Parent Wants to Know’ workshop), in partnership with school staff and parent leaders
  • Direct mentoring program(s) that utilize community leaders and promote student engagement; Heritage Leadership Camp/ Leading Ladies International
  • Coordinate advocacy/training workshops in the community and in schools
  • Connect parents to partner advocates that provide practical information on ways to support student success and partner with schools.

  • Establish teams and networks of support focused on expanding success levels for student achievement.

Examples: Neighborhood parent Groups/Wraparound Support

  • Provide school-based facilitation support and training for effectively resolving complex family/school conversations
  • Connect families to local, regional and state level resources and leadership opportunities
