Valhalla Construction - A Sneak Peek
Valhalla is one of the district’s two elementary schools nearing completion after being rebuilt with 2007 bond dollars. This year, Valhalla’s enrollment has hovered right around 500 students, making it one of the larger elementary schools in the district.
Valhalla is being built literally next door to the existing old school building -- the district does not have a surplus building to house students as new buildings are constructed. Both Valhalla and Panther Lake have been completed as students attended school in the old buildings right next door.
In order to fit the new Valhalla school building on the property available, the school was designed with two levels. The lower level of the school will house younger students, Kindergarten through grade 2. Upstairs, grades 3-5 will occupy the classrooms.
Like the new Panther Lake Elementary, the school has numerous features built in to allow natural light. It is a ‘green building’ in many other ways, as well, from the paint used throughout the building, to the floors, which are concrete with radiant heat built in.
The school diagram below shows photos from a recent tour led by Green Gasaway Architect’s Project Manager Kate Baumann. To follow a tour from the entrance, float your cursor over the circled #1 first, then follow along from there, or view the full sized images in the photo gallery to the right.
