AmeriCorps logoWelcome to the Federal Way Public Schools AmeriCorps website! The Federal Way Public Schools partner with the Washington Service Corps and AmeriCorps to provide tutoring services to the students in our district.

 

Vision

Federal Way AmeriCorps academic tutoring vision is that students of all economic backgrounds will reach their maximum potential and pursue a strong educational foundation.

Federal Way AmeriCorps civic leadership vision is that Federal Way citizens will have the skills, values and inspiration to lead civically through volunteerism and community involvement.

Mission

Strengthen the Federal Way community through modeling an ethic of service providing: academic tutoring and civic leadership.  Federal Way AmeriCorps academic tutoring mission is to increase students’ academic achievement in Federal Way Public Schools by offering tutoring and mobilizing a corps of volunteer tutors.

Federal Way AmeriCorps civic leadership mission is to foster an ethic of service by implementing community projects that offer students and citizens an opportunity to volunteer.

Project Description

The Federal Way Public Schools AmeriCorps Team will increase student academic achievement by offering tutoring & mobilizing a corps of volunteer tutors. Federal Way AmeriCorps civic leadership mission is to foster an ethic of service by implementing community projects that offer students and citizens a chance to volunteer.

Members

AmeriCorps members serve the community by providing academic tutoring in the Federal Way Public Schools and within the community.  Furthermore, AmeriCorps members participate in civic leadership, establish Neighborhood Emergency Teams (NET), and recruit community volunteers.

Member Benefits:  

  • Federal Student Loan Deferment
  • Pre-service and ongoing training
  • Childcare (if eligible)
  • Health Insurance
  • $950 monthly living allowance
  • $4,725 education award at the completion of 10.5 months and 1700 hours   

Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizen
  • Minimum age 17 years
