Kindergarten Learning Expectations
The learning expectations listed below are for kindergarten. Students will be assessed based on their progress toward meeting these grade-level expectations.
The social studies expectations are divided into four areas of the social sciences: history, geography, civics, and economics.
Social Studies Expectations
1. History Expectations
The student:
- 1.1 Understands that individuals and families change over time
- 1.2 Comprehends that traditions are a way of remembering the past
- 1.3 Recognizes that time can be measured by day and night cycles, months of the year or changes of seasons
2. Geography Expectations
The student:
- 2.1 Understands the physical environment of your school and home
- 2.2 Recognizes that individuals and families are unique
3. Civics Expectations
The student:
- 3.1 Recognizes that rules help people stay safe and get along with one another
- 3.2 Recites the Pledge of Allegiance and understands the meanings of patriotic holidays
- 3.3 Understands that voting is a way to make group decisions
- 3.4 Recognizes the role of community helpers
4. Economics Expectations
The student:
- 4.1 Identifies the basic needs of families recognizes that family members have different jobs
