Fourth Grade Learning Expectations

The learning expectations listed below are for fourth grade. Students will be assessed based on their progress toward meeting these grade-level expectations.

Social Studies Expectations

History

  • 1.1 Understands Washington State has changed over time (through the study of Native Americans, explorers, pioneers, industry, and statehood up to present time).
  • 1.2 Comprehends that events and ideas are interpreted according to their effects on people.
  • 1.3 Recognizes technology has provided alternative ways to live and work.

Geography

  • 2.1 Recognizes similarities and differences between regions.
  • 2.2 Expresses how humans use and depend on the environment.
  • 2.3 Uses basic map skills to make comparisons.
  • 2.4 Identifies cultures of the Pacific Rim.

Civics

  • 3.1 Identifies traits of responsible citizenship.
  • 3.2 Distinguishes between local, state and national governments.
  • 3.3 Gives examples of conflict, cooperation, and interdependence among individuals and groups.
  • 3.4 Describes how one person can make a difference in a school community.

Economics
