Fourth Grade Learning Expectations
The learning expectations listed below are for fourth grade. Students will be assessed based on their progress toward meeting these grade-level expectations.
Social Studies Expectations
History
- 1.1 Understands Washington State has changed over time (through the study of Native Americans, explorers, pioneers, industry, and statehood up to present time).
- 1.2 Comprehends that events and ideas are interpreted according to their effects on people.
- 1.3 Recognizes technology has provided alternative ways to live and work.
Geography
- 2.1 Recognizes similarities and differences between regions.
- 2.2 Expresses how humans use and depend on the environment.
- 2.3 Uses basic map skills to make comparisons.
- 2.4 Identifies cultures of the Pacific Rim.
Civics
- 3.1 Identifies traits of responsible citizenship.
- 3.2 Distinguishes between local, state and national governments.
- 3.3 Gives examples of conflict, cooperation, and interdependence among individuals and groups.
- 3.4 Describes how one person can make a difference in a school community.
Economics
- 4.1 Describes the factors that influence the choices one makes when spending one's own money.
- 4.2 Demonstrates the concepts of supply and demand and the influence of scarcity.
- 4.3 Examines how the Pacific Northwest is interdependent with worldwide regions.
- 4.4 Identifies different types of taxes levied by local, state, and national government.
