Second Grade Learning Expectations
The learning expectations listed below are for second grade. Students will be assessed based on their progress toward meeting these grade-level expectations.
Physical Education Expectations
1. The student acquires the knowledge and skills necessary to maintain an active life: movement, physical fitness, and nutrition.
- 1.1 Demonstrates mastery in all locomotor skills in isolation and begins to use those skills in combination
- 1.2 Demonstrates mastery in one non-locomotor skill in isolation and maintains proficiency in others
- 1.3 Begins to apply class rules and safety procedures in a variety of games or fitness activities
- 1.4 Works with a partner in a variety of games or fitness activities
- 1.5 Lists several effects of exercise on the body
- 1.6 Describes how being physically active relates to total fitness
- 1.7 Lists several healthy and unhealthy foods and how each effects his/her body
- 1.8 Begins to understand the benefits of activity, fitness, and proper nutrition
2. The student effectively analyzes health and safety information to develop health and fitness plans based on life goals.
- 2.1 Names several benefits of a regularly active lifestyle
- 2.2 Identifies certain fitness needs related to one career
- 2.3 Participates regularly in a variety of physical activities outside of class
