First Grade Learning Expectations
The learning expectations listed below are for first grade. Students will be assessed based on their progress toward meeting these grade-level expectations.

History
- 1.1 Understands individuals and families change over time
- 1.2 Comprehends that traditions have historical origins
- 1.3 Recognizes time can be measured in hours, days, weeks, months, years and seasons
Geography
- 2.1 Understands the physical geography of the neighborhood
- 2.2 Recognizes similarities and differences in neighborhoods and communities
Civics
- 3.1 Recognizes that families and schools have rules, rights and responsibilities
- 3.2 Learns the importance of patriotic holidays and celebrations
Economics
- 4.1 Identifies the basic needs of families and neighborhoods
- 4.2 Identifies neighborhoods have different jobs
- 4.3 Understands people in a neighborhood are interdependent
- 4.4 Recognizes families make choices concerning spending, earning, and saving money
