The Common Core transition team consisting of 40 teachers, administrators and district personal from across the district has been meeting over the past month to learn about the Common Core State Standards and to examine what the shift to these new state standards will look like in FWPS over the next three years. Students will be tested on these new standards through a new testing system in 2014-2015 and although there are many alignments particularly in Mathematics, there are a number of shifts that will require rethinking how we approach instruction and assessment.

As 45 states are making the shift to CCSS numerous resources are readily available for teachers, parents and students to learn about the standards.
