Secondary School Book Lists
Attached is a list of book titles (along with short synopses) that may be assigned to your student for classroom reading. These books have been reviewed by the Curriculum Department of Federal Way Public Schools, and are considered to be developmentally appropriate for the grade level indicated.
Material in these books is meant to challenge students to think deeply about our world. It is possible that students or parents may find issues or language that seems offensive taken out of the context of a book. Please feel free to contact your child’s teacher if you would like to discuss the reasons that specific selections have been included on the list. You also have the option of requesting an alternative assignment.
We encourage you to read these books along with your student and discuss them at home.
